Doll Therapy

09 November 2018 News

Doll Therapy is becoming increasingly popular amongst care homes and one resident at Cherry Trees Care Home in Rotherham has really taken a shine to it! Joan cuddles and chats with the doll for hours on end, she also takes the doll on walks around the home using a pushchair. “Joan finds great comfort in the doll”, Said Lisa Webster, the Activities Co-Ordinator at Cherry Trees.

Cradling and cuddling dolls like these can trigger a variety of positive feelings such as affections and compassion, it can reprise memories of a time when the residents had small children of their own to look after, and it can also inspire a renewed sense of purpose, helping residents to be more active and lively.
