Corgi & Crown Cakes in Royal Bake Off

26 May 2016 News
Residents across our homes have started showing off their creative flair and baking ability by taking part in a cake competition, led and judged by Chef and Unilever Regional Account Executive, Victoria Sterling, and Food & Beverage Manager at Orchard Care Homes, Andy Savage. The theme for the contest this year is The Queen’s 90th birthday, and all manners of imaginative creations have been whipped up so far. The competition has been divided into regional heats and the winning homes from each region will receive prizes, and put forward to an Orchard Care Homes final. Cakes are being judged on appearance, taste, imagination and most importantly, resident involvement. Homes from the South Yorkshire and Midlands region went to head to head for the first heat, with Skellow Hall’s, Doncaster, delicious Victoria sponge, topped with edible and intricate corgis, being crowned the winning cake. Andy Savage commented, “The homes have been extremely inventive with their cakes, which so far, have tasted just as good as they have looked. We’re looking forward to seeing and tasting some more unique creations from other homes.” Bake-Off Competition Begins from Orchard Care Homes on Vimeo.
