Congratulations to Activity Coordinators Lisa Webster and Lisa Glynn, from Cherry Trees in South Yorkshire, who were crowned joint winners of the Activity Organiser Award at the Yorkshire & Humberside Great British Care Awards. The awards are part of a series of regional events, held to celebrate and reward excellence in care. Finalists meet with a panel of judges, before being invited to a Black Tie Gala Dinner in Leeds, where the winners were revealed. Lisa and Lisa impressed judges with their passionate and innovative approach to activity planning, as well as the setting up of a family support group within the home. The group ensures both residents and relatives have regular access to help and guidance, making the transition into care more comfortable. Cherry Trees Home Manager Sharron Whaley said, “I am thrilled that our Lisas have won the award. They are a fantastic team who work hard to ensure that residents are given access to a person-centred activity programme, which is both vibrant and varied. A thoroughly deserved win.” Speaking on behalf of the pair, Lisa Webster added, “We are absolutely delighted to be recognised as a team, and to be highlighted as leading Activity Coordinators. We both love the work we do and are always striving to ensure both residents and their relatives have a positive care experience.” The Yorkshire & Humberside event also shortlisted Orchard Care Homes in the Care Employer category, with representatives from its Harrogate Support Centre in attendance, alongside Nesfield Lodge Cook Angie Pugh, from Leeds, who was shortlisted in the Care Home Chef/Cook category. Lisa and Lisa will now attend the Great British Care Awards National Finals, held at the International Conference Centre in Birmingham, on 16th March 2018.
