The last few weeks have seen many of our homes set sail on their Virtual Cruise packs, an initiative that provides homes with everything they need to create a virtual visit to an array of different locations. St Helens Hall & Lodge, in Merseyside, began their Virtual Cruise around America, enjoying themed arts and craft sessions and cookery lessons. Wednesday saw many of the staff and residents embracing the Country and Western theme for the day, dressing up and going head to head in various quizzes before sitting down to a traditional American-style meal of burgers and hotdogs. The visit to Las Vegas saw games of poker being enjoyed by all, before ending the week-long cruise with a Disney-themed day. Kelly Wellens, an Activity Coordinator, commented “This week has been packed with fun activities which both the staff and our residents have enjoyed. The residents loved seeing the staff dressed up as different Disney characters and watching the Disney films. We can’t wait until next week where we will be visiting Brazil.” Lymewood Court has also joined in the fun, preparing for their trip to Italy by decorating the home with Italian flags and a fun fact session about some of Italy’s greatest landmarks, including the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Colosseum and the Vatican. The residents then enjoyed a virtual visit to the opera to see Phantom of the Opera, whilst enjoying traditional Italian food, prepared by the home. The week ended with an in-house Italian lesson, which both the residents and staff took part on.
