A long and happy career at Eckington Court
After a long and happy career, Susan Fisher recently retired from her role at Eckington Court Nursing Home. Susan’s journey at the home began 24 years ago, when she joined as a carer.
After over four years in the role, Susan was ready for a change and transitioned into a domestic position when the opportunity arose.
To honour her retirement, Susan's colleagues at Eckington organized a surprise party, showering her with gifts, flowers, heartfelt notes from residents, and a delicious cake. The announcement of her retirement stirred a mix of emotions, bringing both joyous celebrations and bittersweet farewells among the Eckington community.
Embracing her new role Susan loved building relationships with residents, relishing every opportunity to get to know them. Reflecting on her time, Susan tells us "I have loved working with everyone and getting to know all our residents. It has been a real pleasure, and I will miss everyone so much."
We asked Sue about what a typical day looks like at Eckington. Susan said ‘it’s dynamic, with each day presenting different tasks’. Her primary focus always remains on ensuring a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents.
When asked about the most surprising aspect of her role, Susan revealed, "the satisfaction, especially when you finish deep cleaning the home. I love seeing our residents happy and content."
Thank you to Susan for an amazing 24 years of service! We wish you the best retirement- You deserve it!
