Choosing a care home

There is a great choice in care homes, with different homes providing varying degrees of care. An individual will be assessed according to their needs, this could be done by the local authority or social services and referred to Orchard Care for a secondary assessment, or directly with Orchard Care for privately funded individuals.

The outcome of the assessment will determine the type of home needed, this could be residential, or nursing for example. Based on this knowledge, you then need to take the opportunity to get out and visit several homes. We have an open door policy at Orchard Homes and we welcome visits. You will want to see a home and what it has to offer, in addition to meeting some of the people who work there.

Once you have visited some homes you need to know if they can accommodate you. There is a growing demand for care home places and so you may need to select a number of homes you like, or request to be added to a waiting list.

Our dedicated team of advisors can talk you through this process on the telephone.

Paying for Care

Depending on the type of care needs and provision, or even the location, care home costs can differ and you are welcome to speak to one of our specialist advisors to discuss this in further detail relating to your individual situation.

There are differing levels of financial provision from the UK Government, here is a link to Care Home UK where some key questions are answered http://www.carehome.co.uk/fees/feesadvice.cfm
