Penwortham Grange & Lodge gets first round of COVID-19 vaccine
Tuesday 8th December marked the first day of the Pfizer/BioNtech coronavirus vaccine being rolled out and administered to key workers across the United Kingdom.
Our Preston home, Penwortham Grange & Lodge acted quickly and efficiently to ensure 30 members of staff at the home were ready for the first round of vaccination at the Royal Preston Hospital.
The home received notification from the local hospital on Monday afternoon that bookings were available. Mellisa Thompson, Home Manager, worked tirelessly to collate every colleagues’ details at very short notice. Thanks to Mellisa’s hard work, 44% of the staff team were all set to receive their vaccination less than 48 hours later.
Our CEO, Hayden Knight, said “This is absolutely brilliant news and I’m really proud of the team at Penwortham for organising everything so quickly. It is testament to the ongoing hard work of Orchard Care Homes staff that we were prepared to become one of the first recipients of this vaccine. Finally, some good news to come out of this awful pandemic.”
