Langfield Care Home launches brand new Reconnect community
Orchard Care Homes are pleased to announce that Langfield Care Home has opened its very own dementia-specialist Reconnect community!
Based in Middleton, Langfield Care Home became the latest to adopt our person-centric, therapeutic approach to care with their first ever Reconnect community. Langfield, which also offers residential dementia care, is our first care home in Manchester to offer this enhanced level of specialist support for people living with dementia.
The community was opened by Councillor Shakil Ahmed, Mayor of Rochdale, who said our Middleton care home will be vital to dementia care in the region. “It’s a great home, built to a very high standard. It has some outstanding facilities that are very rare to find in other homes. This home is a huge asset to the local council and will provide truly individualised care to the increasing number of people that live with dementia in Manchester.”
With over 944,000 people estimated to be living with dementia, our Reconnect model responds to the ever-growing demand for more specialist care homes in the UK. At Orchard Care Homes, we believe in equitable care for all – including people living with dementia. Langfield Care Home is now the 6th home within the group to offer our innovative dementia care.
Providing a more holistic approach to dementia care, our Reconnect communities have proven time and time again that person-centred, inclusive care for people living with dementia not only supports them physically but emotionally, too. From the team at Ashlea Lodge helping Brian to continue his longstanding career, to John’s visible new lease of life at Middleton Park Lodge, our communities are paving the way for a better future in dementia care.
Vivienne Daly, Home Manager at Langfield, shared her excitement of the launch. "I've witnessed lives transformed in other Reconnect communities within our group, and I'm thrilled to now bring this service to Langfield alongside our existing care offerings. A heartfelt thank you to Councillor Shakil Ahmed for joining us on this special day and cutting the ribbon, marking a new chapter for so many people living with dementia in the Manchester area."
The open day was a huge success, with health professionals from all over the region attending. The Reconnect community, which has 21 bedrooms, reflects a homely environment and includes all the facilities you’d typically find in your home, including kitchen, living room, laundry room and even a games room for residents to enjoy.
Alongside the warm and welcoming setting, the dementia-friendly space also has a higher ratio of team members, all of whom are trained in dementia care. From Dementia Support Workers to Senior Carers, colleagues in the Reconnect community are able to provide specialist support for people living with dementia.
