Mitie, the facilities management company, has given an additional boost to Orchard Care Homes by sponsoring their newly launched Activity Coordinator Award.  Awarded every two months, the new recognition scheme is praising the work of Activity Coordinators within the group’s care homes. Mitie has been working with the group since February and provides full reactive and planned maintenance. They will be rewarding the individual with a £25 gift voucher. November’s winner is Leanne Cole, Activity Coordinator at The Squirrels Care Centre in Essex, who received the award for her work focusing on person-centred activities. Leanne has set up regular creative reminiscence sessions with an art tutor from Essex County Council and she is consistently working to encourage productivity and a sense of purpose for those living in the home. “Leanne really deserves this award" comments Bev Brown, Home Manager of The Squirrels. “She understands the types of activities which are going to be beneficial to residents and is constantly looking at different ways of maintaining and enhancing a varied activity plan”.  Pictured in the photo, from left to right, is Leanne, a resident of the home, Bev and another resident.
