Residents enjoying their exercise classKeeping fit is an important part of everybody’s lives and the same is certainly true for our residents at Penwortham Grange & Lodge.

Every Wednesday, the residents at Penwortham Grange & Lodge look forward to Fitness Guru, Wendy Hobson’s arrival, who delivers a fantastic exercise experience!

Wendy specialises in working with the elderly and those who struggle with dementia, in order to help residents feel as fit as a fiddle, in a safe and fun environment.

The exercises allow residents to be seated and included in a variety of stretches and ball games that help to improve the hand-eye coordination of the residents and their overall motor functions. There is also a fantastic selection of music for the residents to dance, clap, stomp their feet and sing along too, all of which helps keep them fit, active and smiling!

“The residents absolutely love attending the sessions. They have told us how much they enjoy the exercises and say how much more mobile and flexible they feel after the weekly sessions”, commented Susan Hoyle, one of the Activities Coordinators at Penwortham Grange & Lodge.

“She knows all the residents by name and the level of their abilities, so at the end of the session, she individually goes around the class congratulating and thanking them for taking part in the exercises”, added Susan.

The residents are already looking forward to their next session!
