Another milestone birthday was celebrated this week, this time at Chorley Lodge in Lancashire, as resident Lillian turned 90 years old.
A surprise visit by Lillian’s son Michael and daughter Linda, who both live in America, made the occasion extra special. The pair flying in to join Lillian’s other son Phil and daughter-in-law Angela, as well as eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Staff at the home put on a birthday tea party, which was enjoyed by Lillian and her guests, as they reminisced about Lillian’s long life.
Phil, said, “Mum was delighted. It was such a surprise for her when they arrived a few days before her birthday. Mum was born in Lancaster, but moved to Chorley 56 years ago for my dad’s work. They had been married for more than 50 years until he passed away in 2008, aged 84. Mum is a member of St Peter’s Church and the Mother’s Union. She had worked in various schools as a dinner lady and she also worked at Chorley Market.”
Activity Coordinator Lynne Bleakley added, “We always try and make sure that birthdays are celebrated in style. Lillian is a popular resident with a large extended family, and it was lovely to be able to welcome them all to the home to celebrate with her.”
