Children from Broadway Junior School visited residents at Ashlea Lodge in Sunderland recently, after a school trip to the north east's famous open-air museum, Beamish. The museum catalogues the region's industrial heritage, and the children were excited to tell residents all about what they had learned.  The children regularly visit the home, and on this occasion arrived donning old-fashioned costumes, based on their museum trip. One resident, Jenny, who recently turned 100 years old, told them all about her time working in the Sunderland markets.  She commented, "It is delightful when the children visit, as they love to hear about what the city was like years ago, and it is lovely to reminisce. Having them come and visit reminds me of when my own children were small." Another resident Danny, meanwhile, enjoyed showing the children how to play pool, while Isabella showed them how she used to dance, and told them about her life working at Vaux Brewery. It was Jayne however, who appeared to be the most poular resident. At 101 years old, she is Ashlea Lodge's oldest resident, and her Great-Grandaughter Rebecca was eager to show her classmates Great-Grandma's telegram from the Queen.  To keep up to date with news from the home, follow us on facebook.com/orchardcarehome/
