A vibrant musical performance was the highlight of the day recently at Ashlea Lodge in Sunderland, as residents joined in with singing a number of songs performed by local band, ‘Happy Daze’. The four-piece electric guitar band played a number of songs from the fifties and sixties, including favourites such as Frank Sinatra’s ‘New York, New York’, which had everybody up and dancing. The performance was particularly special for one resident, Dorothy, whose son David is a member of the band, which frequently tours the UK playing various functions. Activity Coordinator Donna Hill commented, “Music is such a central part of life in the home, and the band went down very well with everyone. The atmosphere in the home was great, with everyone singing along, and as an added bonus, Dorothy got to spend some quality time with her son, and show off his talents to friends in the home.” To keep up to date with news from the home, follow us on Facebook and YouTube.
