The Role:

Our Care Assistants provide person centred care, and support our residents to maintain their independence, this includes supporting with personal care, mealtimes and activities.

About you:

As a Care Assistant you will provide emotional support to our residents and ensure that their quality of life is enhanced. You will also be provided with a comprehensive induction programme and a range of qualifications and pathways for you to fulfil a career in care.

Welcome to Ashlea Lodge Care Home - A specialist residential and dementia residential care home in Millfield, Sunderland.

People living with dementia often have continuing periods of loss and distress and do not live life to the full in care homes. Orchard Care Homes are aiming to transform and reshape care for people living with dementia in our homes. We are looking for people who have a genuine drive to make each moment of people's lives joyful, purposeful and meaningful. Of course, we know there will be times when people will be experiencing anguish, fear, upset and anger, and as a member of our team you may find that difficult. We will provide you with exceptional in depth training in all areas of Dementia Care and support you to understand why the person is distressed and what we can do to help them.

With a focus on helping people to live as normal a life as possible, ensuring they can continue to feel a sense of purpose and life live, our Dementia Promise is for the people living and working in our homes. Our Reconnect service will support people who have struggled to find peace, comfort and support in other places. They may well have spent time in hospital under the Mental Health Act because of their distress. This means they may have medication prescribed aimed at reducing these incidents. But with love and dedication we have proven we can achieve better outcomes for them and reduce their distress without having to rely on psychotropic medication.
