We love to celebrate significant birthdays in our homes and this month, Ashlea Lodge in Sunderland, Tyne & Wear and Langfield Care Home in Middleton, Greater Manchester, have been busy planning parties for two of their residents. Jenny Hazard and Annie McNulty celebrated their 100th birthdays on the 10th of January with family and friends within the homes. Staff and residents at Ashlea Lodge organised Jenny a surprise birthday party and had Elvis impersonator, Mike Wilde, in to sing popular songs from the artist. After the party, Jenny was presented with a cake and a buffet of food was on offer for all to enjoy. Langfield Care Home also planned a party for Annie and invited her friends and family to attend. An entertainer sang the resident’s favourite songs from the 1920s and 1960s and the kitchen staff prepared a spread of her favourite food. Annie said that she was speechless and very happy that she was spending her birthday with such wonderful people.
